good morning, this is "sam the lung plumber" and today i'm actually doing some real liquid plumbing because... as you can see...- our sink's not working well - yeah, it's draining really slow... so. i haven't done this before,
unclog bathtub drain with snake, but i've since made a crude tool. they sell a tool called the zip-it onlineand in hardware stores, and i've decided to make something similarbut not as long. we just need to get passed that areawhere that plunger
meets that metal rod, that is actuated by this metal plunger pull. i made this simply by getting two zip ties and cutting at a 30 degree angle at a 30 degree angleroughly and pried it out about 45 (see i made one right there) but i'll save you from watching me do the whole thing all overagain since i already made this. so i'm gonna give it right now and seehow well it works.
i don't know if you can see but i've lashed them to a bamboo chopstick, because bamboo has a high tensile and compression strength. let's see what kind of goodieswe come out with. - ew -aww, man... that's... glorious. aww... man...- that's sick - ...try the other side here. i was hoping to reuse this.at this point, i don't think i will.
i'll just make another one. all right, here we go.- that's gross - yes, it is. now, the reason it works so well isbecause it's kind of a one-way trip. it goes in and pulls everything out.(let me see... oh my god, that's digusting) kids say the darndest things... theysay the factual things say like they see it. good god.all right... - that is one of the sickest thingsi have ever seen -well, now you can see why your sink's not working, right kids?
yeah, there's a lot of hair clogged up in it. yeah... well... - looks like it's not going in very well -yeah, you have to get it passed the hair, and when you pull, it catches all the hair on it's way back up. - yeah, because of all those spiky things -(yeah) see this, that's pretty nasty.(that's why you always have to wear gloves) well, it's easier to clean your finger nails (that way).-that's digusting - (eww.. what is that?) - it's hair -the reason your sink, girls... hasn't been working lately?- yeah, i've noticed -
you've noticed? (that' is gross)well, i hope we're going to clean that up... well, let's hope we can get it to where it's working again... i mean, ideally you should take the "trap" out... and take that little drain plug part out(you're mean, you're not letting me finish my sentence) well... all right...(we're going to leave) okay.
i think i got this one jammed.ooh, i broke it. how much did i lose?(that's not good) hope that piece doesn't get stuck in the trap. in which case i'll really have to tear this down, later on. so, as you can see it's a good idea to wear gloves. and you want to pull it off in reverse fashion. unfortunately, i can't look at the screen while i'm working. so that i can see what's really on camera. it's pretty clear. oh, i take it back. it wasn't that clear after all. this chunky stuff is actually just toothpaste.
hair and toothpaste probably aren't the best combos. oh, there's a nice big one. that's pretty good, i think. all right, i think that's good. so as you can see, this is kind of junk i got out. imagine why your sink doesn't work. and no amount of drano is going to clean that. so... let's see. well, that's working a lot better.
unfortunately, i lost a good inch of the zip tie in the sink. - now that's a nice working sink -it's working now... but i lost a piece of a zip tie down there. it will probably end up in some water treatment plant ground in with some other solids. - what? -yeah, i lost a piece of it. so, i'm just going to chuck that. i had thoughts of reusing it, but at this point two zip ties and a bamboo chopstick i think we can live without.
- ding ding -well, it's looking pretty good. we'll just have to do that on a regular basis.maybe we should clean out that other sink just in case.- it's working fine - that one is working okay, right?- yeah -
all right - it's draining faster -all righty that's good!all right!- thanks for watching! - that's it!bye!
