will sulfur get rid of snakes

stay safe and protect your body! this is korea's center of safety! safety first! (excited from the start!) only 3 days left until

will sulfur get rid of snakes, the university entrance exam. i bet they're nervous. you're all from that era too, right? did you all take the university entrance exam?

what do you mean by that question? that was offensive. maybe you took the achievement test. jongkook, didn't you take the achievement test? aren't you from that era? what was your first period? - what? / - first period. (flustered) see.

he can't answer. first period is linguistics. just ask him this. you didn't use an omr card, right? you wrote right on the exam! he didn't bring a computer marker. - i used an omr card. / - really? geez... back then...

we'd get really nervous for right. hyeonmin, you got into university early. so you didn't take the exam. do you still take the entrance exam? you don't, right? you don't need to. but i took it because i wanted to. (despicable)

for the experience... i took it in 11th grade. 11th grade? he was just curious what it was like. since everyone else takes it. that's why i took it too. i was curious. so today's keyword... let's take a look at it.

(3 days before the university entrance exam) we talked about this. d-day makes people get nervous. we start planning. i prepared 100 sample questions or some basic questions... things to memorize... after making all that, i fell asleep. you don't know.

when the exam is coming up soon... there are questions you get wrong. you should study those questions for a week. that's what you should do. but that's dangerous. you might end up memorize the wrong answers. that's true. you end up memorizing the wrong answers so that's very dangerous.

i don't know if i should say this to students preparing for the exam... but for the listening portion... they all put their heads down when the answer comes up! that's true! (their body gives the answer away!) kids like me... we don't really listen... we look for them to drop...

i'm like this... and when hyeonmin writes his answer... you go down with him. - this always works. / - true. you have to watch out for that too. it depends on who is sitting around you. that could be dangerous too. students study a lot on the day before or 3 days before but...

they're split into two types. those that maintain their pace and study as they always do. or those that want to relax and empty their minds. completely empty it? that could happen. there are two types. if you all took the entrance exam again

which would you choose? if i took the exam again i'd study a bit more ahead of time. maybe 100 days before? i'd try to maintain my short-term memory and my condition. how? i try to go to bed very early. then i get up early, study

and then go take the exam. right... strangely, when you study something as soon as you wake up it stays in your head longer. i saw somewhere that things stay in your head longer when you're a bit sleepy and tired. you didn't do well because you did that. there are superstitions.

- yeah. / - get a certain color cushion... don't cut your hair... - don't bathe. / - don't wash your hair.... they don't shower, clip their nails or wash their hair. or you steal the cushion of the smart kid in your class. the cushions would disappear. there are a lot of thefts the day before the exam.

all over school... dictionaries, math books, cushions and even slippers... there are popular gifts too that are a play on words. to pass the exam, taffy is always a popular gift. tissues so things go well... this is a new one.

a fork to pick the right answers. a mirror to do well. what do students these days get as gifts? a digital camera or phone so they pick the right answers. the exam doesn't sound so bad. - right. / - getting all sorts of stuff. instead of joke gifts there are actual helpful gifts too.

- like what? / - a blanket or clock. things that can be used during the exam. from what i've observed... we're from the packed lunch era so we got a packed lunch. but now it's the cafeteria era. a lot of mothers are packing lunches for the first time for the university entrance exam.

i bet they have trouble thinking of what to pack. in case the food makes their kid get an upset stomach... or distract them from the exam... they used to say not to eat seaweed soup. - why not? / - since it's slippery. they said it's bad luck for the exam. kids would fight their parents about whether or not they'd eat breakfast.

eating something might... parents say the kid should eat but the kid doesn't want to since they're nervous... the blood goes to where the food is digested. so it will prevent blood circulation in the head. eating is a very important thing. so we'll go back to when we were 19 when we took the university entrance exam. i'm sure all the high school seniors are

anxious and nervous with the exam coming up. let's take a look at our first topic. the university entrance exam is coming up in a few days. so safety first prepared a special segment. all the concerns high school seniors have about the upcoming university entrance exam... we got graduates that scored high on the exam to help us out.

seoul national university medical school lee minho. medical school... yonsei university business major lee hyeonmun. 398. seoul national university business major kim sinu. yonsei university premed park huiryun. 390. seoul national university dental school lee dongho.

(lee dayeon 383) (kim jeonghun 400) (kim hyeongjin 396) (lee donghyeon 400) (do uhyeong 390) we got a total of 10 students that scored high on the university entrance exam to tell you what to do for the next 3 days. i don't know what to study for 3 days before the exam. how should i study 3 days before the exam?

what final studying methods will the graduates recommend when there are 3 days left until the exam? i started to study sample questions 1 or 2 weeks before the exam. i didn't just study things randomly. i studied by the exam schedule. korean questions during korean time, math questions during math time...

if you study like that, you'll be a lot more used to the exam when you actually take it. (study by the exam schedule!) i studied with a good friend that got similar grades as me. we made it a timed competition when it came to doing the questions. you become aware of each other when you're sitting next to each other. it gets you a bit tense which is

similar to the tension you feel during the exam. so i think that was effective. (study competitively with friend!) rather than studying something new i looked back at the questions that i got wrong and studied those. when you go through the questions... i checked the ones that i wanted to come back to. by looking back, you can see what you missed.

(solve the problems you got wrong again!) i try to get through every subject as fast as possible. you can earn up to 10 to 20 minutes. that's how i studied. sometimes you can make a calculation error in a problem which would make you feel bad when you see the results.

with extra time, you can check back on those things. also, you need to earn time to think when you come across a question you don't know so you should try to get through things fast. (practice solving the problems fast!) i'm worried i'll be tired for the exam if i go to sleep late the day before. i'm worried i won't be able to be in good condition for the exam.

the second concern... how can you make sure you're in the best condition for the exam? i usually went to bed at 12:30. i tried to match my sleeping pattern for the exam so i tried my best to go to bed before 11:30 a week before the exam. make a new sleeping pattern a few days before the exam.

i usually fell asleep around 1 or 2 a.m. but 3 or 4 days before the exam i tried to force myself to go to bed at around 10 or 11. i tried to sleep earlier and wake up earlier to prepare. my mom started making me breakfast since a month before the exam. people say that eating breakfast

and eating carbohydrates in the morning will help you think better. even if it's not true... you can feel comforted by the fact that you did it so i made sure to try to do that. 8 out of the 10 students that did well on the exam recommended making a new sleeping pattern. does it really help?

if you want to go to bed early on the day before the exam, you should train yourself to sleep early 1 or 2 weeks ahead of time. that will help you fall asleep early the day before the exam. also, it's good to wake up 2 hours before taking the exam. this is because our brain activity becomes normalized 2 hours after waking up.

so waking up early will help a bit for the exam. the preliminary call the day before the exam. it seems like a waste of time to go but i'd feel uncomfortable not going. the day before the exam there's a preliminary call where you go to the exam hall and you get the test. but...

if it's an exam hall you know well going to preliminary call may seem like a waste of time. let's see what the graduates say. 9 out of 10 said... that you should go. i want to be used to the environment the day of the exam... so i go to the exam hall in advance.

rather than wandering around, you can take the exam feeling less nervous in a familiar environment. so i went to the exam hall the day before. you can find out where you have to go during the preliminary call and train yourself in your head on how it will be like on the day of the exam. i was on time the day of the exam

but i left my lunch in my mom's car. it took me some time to go back and get it. but i made it there and back in time because i already went to the preliminary call. so it's good to check things out ahead of time. the graduates recommended going to the exam hall ahead of time to get used to the environment. i think skipping lunch would make me tired

but i'm worried about getting an upset stomach. what would be good for the day of the exam? it's not just the students. the mothers are also very concerned about what lunch they should pack on the day of the exam. i always told my mom not to pack anything spicy or greasy. spicy foods can cause an upset stomach. just talk to your mom a few days before.

my mom actually knew the foods that i like and make me comfortable that even i didn't know about. so i ate what my mom packed. i think it's important to eat what you're used to. i thought of foods that i like that make me comfortable so my mom packed me dried radish greens bean paste soup. it helped to calm me down.

what helped me was warm barley tea. i drank some during every break time. it helped calm me down. another thing the graduates recommend... your friends might send you glutinous rice cakes or chocolate. don't eat glutinous rice cakes as they're not good for digestion. i ate chocolate instead. if you eat a piece of chocolate during the

break times... it breaks down fast and you can absorb it so it helps with using your head. i don't know if it really helped or it was a placebo but i always ate a piece during break times. the packed lunch should be something light that can be easily digested and provides energy. fish, tofu, meat fritters made with lean meat, braised potatoes, seasoned vegetables...

that's what i recommend. what's most important is that you shouldn't make some special dish. eat things that you usually like and eat often. that's the best thing to do. i'd like to study moderately on the day before the exam and go to bed early so i'm not tired. what did you guys do? the day before the exam...

is it good to study as much as usual or not at all? what did the graduates do? i studied. i asked my classmates. they all said they studied too. if you think a little bit of tension helps, i think that will help relieve tension on the day. i think it's best to study like usual.

you'd be too nervous to goof off the day before. if you play around the day before you might feel guilty about it too. like the heavens won't help you... so i just studied with my friends the day before. if you think studying the day before won't help, it'll actually make you more nervous if you don't study the day of or the day before. do what you have to do and maintain your stability.

i thought i should study enough so that i don't regret it. i didn't want to be physically tired so i studied while staying tense yet not overexerting myself physically. all the graduates said to maintain your usual studying habits on the day before. on the mock test i'd spend a lot of time on questions that i get stuck on...

what did you do when you didn't know a question? when you don't know or get confused and you get flustered, what should you do? if i thought the question would eat up time, i just skipped it. i answered all the easy questions first and then went back to the hard ones. that was better for time management. i skipped the ones i didn't know.

i decided that i would pick 4 for the ones that i still didn't know after i was done marking the exam before it ended. you try to solve the problem... if i thought it would take a long time, i didn't know it or my calculation was off... i just skipped it and came back to it at the end. when you get flustered at a question you don't know you can't do the ones after it either.

so you have to run simulations. what to do when you get stuck... when i took the exam i came across a math problem i didn't know. i've never been that nervous... but with the time for the exam winding down i suddenly saw the answer. but if i was stuck on that one question i wouldn't have solved it.

if you see a question you don't know, the graduates kept calm and solved the ones they knew. they also recommended a number that you will use for guesses in a worst-case scenario. here's an important tip for students about to take the exam. cover your ears during break times.

when i heard others check their answers, i tried to ignore them. i found out i got a math problem wrong. that didn't make me feel so good afterwards. it wrecked my composure so it was hard during the english portion. so never talk about the problems. to keep your composure throughout the exam it's not good to talk about the

sections you finished during the exam. we asked the graduates to give some final words of advice to the students about to take the exam in 3 days. as they say, "man proposes, god disposes." don't make mistakes and i think it will be good to show all your skills on the exam. do a great job. let's go!

don't be too nervous and don't be too greedy. just study as you usually do for the next 3 days and you'll do well. you can do it. think of your efforts until now. let that comfort you and don't be nervous. i hope you do well.

let's go, students! i'm sure you're very nervous. believe in yourself and do your best. let's go! believe in yourself and do your best. then you can do well. hang in there, you all. let's go!

so from what they said, it's not really doing something special... it's to maintain your comfort and study at a consistent pattern. a sudden change wouldn't be so good mentally or psychologically. so it's best to eat what you usually eat. eat what you're used to, do what you're used to... we can't tell you the problems

but what can really help your condition is what you eat. that's right. so we have some packed lunches. out of the packed lunches here there is a dangerous one that's not suitable for students on the day of the exam. a dangerous one.

we should avoid that. so let's look at each one. lunch 1. i like the lunch box. it's pretty. (mouth open wide) ham rice balls and chicken nuggets. i love this. pork cutlet.

that's a rich kid's lunch. meatballs and sausage stir-fry. this is the best lunch for kids. they also look like bar snacks. it's a bit heavy. with a lunch box like this, you can protect your food when your friends try to steal some. let's try this. how did they know i was hungry?

i automatically went for the sausage first. even a girlfriend wouldn't pack a lunch like this for her boyfriend. this looks very nice... a special lunch for the exam... this is good. some parents could make this. if this is eaten on the day of the exam... i'm not sure if it'll be alright.

if i had a lunch like that on exam day, i wouldn't be able to focus from thinking about the food. i'd want to eat soon. - i think i'd overeat. / - yeah. - this is a bit oily. / - yes. so it might not be good. hyeonmin, try some nuggets. come to think of it... these are all fried and stir-fried in oil.

all meat. let's look at lunch 2. the container looks nice. 1, 2, 3. (already moved) veggies. this looks great! this is for me! this is my style!

veggies rolls with brown rice. there's broccoli and seasoned vegetables. this doesn't need any sauce. just enjoy the taste of the ingredients... i can't eat lunch 2. i can't eat this. it's tied with water parsley. you can smell it when you eat it... - the water parsley smell spreads... / - but...

- this needs some meat. / - yeah. for energy. this is more of a meal to cure constipation. a lot of fiber. i opened the soup. - what is it? / - goodness. what is it? - seaweed soup. / - they say that's bad luck. people aren't as superstitious these days.

thankfully... lunch 2 didn't have meat but the seaweed soup does. it's okay. it has meat. that's enough. - i don't usually eat on tv... / - stop eating. - you're eating a lot. / - i'm having a meal here. - you really love it. / - yes. jongkook, would you really pick lunch 2 if you have to pick from 1 and 2?

- me? / - definitely. i'd like to meet a woman that makes this. let's see lunch 3. lunch 3. what's in it? i want this! these are like housewarming party foods. the first container has braised ribs, braised peanuts

and bacon-wrapped mushrooms. this container has salmon salad... and mackerel. - fish is good for the brain. / - yes. braised ribs are usually only made during special occasions. - the exam day is a special day. / - yes. let me open the soup. let's take a look.

dried radish green bean paste soup? oyster! no... clam! clams. - i bet that's refreshing. / - oysters. a clear soup is nice because it's clean. stuff that's good for your brain. we have to pick the dangerous lunch. oh, right. which one is it?

i think... it's too greasy. it'll be hard to digest. that's what i think. lunch 1 is filled with processed foods that many people eat now. people are used to these kinds of foods now so i think it would be okay. - i think this one... / - lunch 3.

this stuff is only eaten on special days. i think it's 3 too. i thought about it. oysters spoil very easily. they are in season during winter but they could cause a problem. so i don't think oysters should be in your packed lunch on the day of the exam. and students don't really like oysters.

they don't. so are the processed foods dangerous or is it the seafood? i think the seafood is more dangerous. - i see. / - lunch 3. all the girls say 3. the seafood. i also think 3 is very dangerous. it's too protein-based.

there are almost no carbohydrates. - you're right. / - no carbohydrates. - how perceptive. / - it's all protein. so sharp. carbohydrates provide nutrients for the brain. so do we all say 3? i think it's 1. i think it's 2... you just don't like 2.

this would make you angry when you open the lunch box. you'd think your mom doesn't care about you. on the day of the exam! this isn't what i wanted! many vegetables make you sleepy. true. so basically, we don't like any of these. i really like 1.

this is stuff i always eat. but for the university entrance exam... ham, sausage, more ham... - it's not that one. / - nuggets, pork cutlet... maybe they're all dangerous. what? they didn't say it was just one. maybe it's best not to eat lunch. starve.

so i choose 1, 2 and 3. (lunch 1) lunch 1 is dangerous. why? frozen products like chicken nuggets and pork cutlets are deep-fried and hard. if you consume these without chewing thoroughly it could cause an upset stomach. also, sauces eaten with instant foods

tend to be very spicy or salty. this can also cause an upset stomach. it's important to season the food so it isn't too bold with just some salt or soy sauce. so it's lunch 2. i think it's a very healthy lunch. lunch 2 is dangerous. this lunch has a lot of fiber.

it will expedite your stomach movements causing excess blood to go your stomach. this can cause you to get sleepy easily and make you want to go to the bathroom when you are stressed. also, fiber isn't an energy source so it won't provide nutrients to the brain when taking the exam. for a student taking an exam

a few pieces of kimchi is best. kelp or seaweed is also very rich in fiber. avoid the seaweed stems when making seaweed soup. it's best to use the thin leaves. lunch 3 is dangerous! lunch 3 is dangerous. it looks like a healthy lunch but it isn't right for students taking the exam.

raw salmon, grilled mackerel, beef ribs and bacon have a lot of oil. the oil can cause bad bowel movements. so use fish that isn't as oily, the back leg of pork or shin fore shank. parboil it in water first and then cook it so it's tender. nuts are a great energy source

but peanuts are made up of 50% oil. they are very rich in oil. they can also upset the stomach so don't eat too much. lastly, oysters or clams can cause food poisoning if they're undercooked. so do not pack them for a student about to take an exam.

pack the students a mild and small lunch. make the food tender. as a snack they can eat during break times, pack them chocolate, honey tea or nuts. if they eat things like this it'll help their brain activity. i thought about what the best lunch would be after hearing those explanations. some fully cooked and soft rice,

with some slightly bland soy-simmered meat, a few slices of white kimchi, some candied walnuts to promote brain activity and some warm bean paste stew. i think that would be excellent. i hope the mothers make their kids a warm lunch made with love. an unwelcome sight for fall hikers.

snakes that are active right before hibernating. what can you do if you run into a snake on the road? getting rid of snakes! we did a search on how to get rid of a snake. we found various methods. most of the recommendations said to get rid of a snake using their strong sense of smell.

in a previous episode we did an experiment with alum and dried squid that snakes hate. we left alum on a path that snakes use. the snake approached the alum.... and then passed right over it. he wasn't concerned. so snakes don't hate alum. he didn't care. what about stinky dried squid?

the snake approached the squid... and passed right over it. so the smell of squid won't get rid of a snake. alum isn't very effective for keeping snakes away. snakes have a strong sense of smell. alum doesn't have a strong smell that would make a snake avoid it. snakes avoid droppings from a top predator, plants that smell strong

and chemicals with certain smells. the most useful thing is substances that contain sulfur. (substances that contain sulfur?) so we'll do an experiment with garlic which has a strong smell and contains a lot of sulfur. we'll be experimenting on someone's pet ball python.

cleopatra kept a ball python as a pet. we'll lure the ball python with his a rat which is his favorite food. oh, no... (he looks tasty!) he watches the rat's movement and approaches it seriously. it's behind the cage now. it's going to attack from behind.

how smart. the snake approaches once he's done preparing to hunt. the rat senses the approaching snake and quickly pretends to sleep. the snake looks for an opening but he fails. the ball python fails in catching the rat. he goes back to get ready to try again.

let's see what happens when we surround the rat cage with garlic. i'm curious. will it work? the rat seems to feel safe behind the garlic and moves more actively. he looks happy. the ball python attempts to hunt the rat again. he approaches the cage from the front this time.

he approaches the wall of garlic. he's only 10cm from the rat cage. no... so scary... if he gets past the garlic wall he's right at the rat cage. he can't pass. he must really hate the smell. the snake quickly turns away

after being surprised by the smell of the garlic. the garlic smell must've disgusted him. he leaves without even looking back. how will the snake react to the smell of kimchi which is made with a lot of garlic? we surrounded the rat cage with kimchi this time. we put a different snake in this time. the snake reacts after seeing the rat. (the snake rises)

the snake lifts his head to look at the rat. he stares for a while... he seems determined. he puts his head down. he slowly approaches the rat. i don't think he'll like the smell of kimchi. it smells so strong. he tries to go between the plates but he hesitates.

he can't approach the kimchi. he ends up going around the long way. he arrives at the other path. the other snake ends up giving up on hunting the rat and turns back. so our experiment showed that the pet snakes did not like the smell of garlic and kimchi. maybe this species just isn't used to the smell of garlic and kimchi.

we'll do an experiment in a mock camping situation to see if the smell of kimchi will keep snakes away. for our second experiment we'll use a dione ratsnake that incubates eggs which is a rare trait for reptiles. we'll lure the snake with a frog which is his favorite food.

we placed kimchi in the snake's path. the snake approaches. he suddenly stops in his place. feeling that something isn't right, he sticks out his tongue. he stops in his tracks... (turn) and makes a sudden left turn. - he was far away. / - he hates kimchi.

did the snake move away because of the smell of kimchi? we'll experiment with a different ratsnake. the small ratsnake approaches the kimchi and seems to be attracted by the scent. he goes on top of the kimchi. is he going to taste the kimchi? how will the ratsnake react? the small ratsnake was shocked by the smell.

he quickly slithers away from the kimchi. so according to our experiment we found out the smell that snakes hate. we saw that both pet snakes and wild snakes hate the smell of garlic and kimchi. interesting... snakes and vampires hate the same thing. all things that bite hate garlic? - maybe. / - snakepire.

is that what it is? i just realized. so like this tip about snakes, please send us any useful tip you know. expired foods in your fridge. you don't feel comfortable eating them but it seems wasteful to throw them out. everyone has experienced this. is it okay to eat this stuff?

we got necessities that sell well at marts and have a short expiration date of 2 weeks. we got eggs, bread, tofu, yogurt and milk and did an experiment to see how they are before and after the expiration date. foods that are still good... and foods at least 1 week past the expiration date. 9 days? (9 days past the expiration date)

(7 days past the expiration date) how will the foods differ? milk is a necessity for growing kids and we'll check it out first. first, we poured milk a in a cup. this time we'll pour milk b in a cup. it seems more savory. can you see the difference in the two milks? i can't see any difference.

which milk is past the expiration date? we'll compare yogurts this time which is another dairy product. we opened yogurt a first... some of the yogurt came off on the lid. yogurt b also came off on the lid. can you see a difference? b is the expired one. we'll try scooping them with a spoon.

this is yogurt a. this is yogurt b. which yogurt is expired? we'll compare tofu which is often served in meals. before we opened the packages we took a look at the filler water. which one is expired? we opened the packages and

placed the tofu on plates. both a and b look nice and square. next, we slice the tofu to get a look inside. that looks good. a and b both cut well. one of these are 7 days past the expiration date. eggs are a healthy food. let's see if there's a difference. we'll crack the egg on a plate.

- housewives can tell this. / - sure. which egg is past the expiration date? it's this one. - about to go bad. / - yes. we'll put the eggs into salt water. if it floats, the egg has gone bad. if it sinks, it's a fresh egg. what will happen? it may be past the expiration date

but it hasn't gone bad. it could be similar. a and b both sank. lastly, we'll compare bread which is commonly eaten for breakfast. one bread is still good another is 5 days past the expiration date. they kept them in a fridge, right? we'll check the texture of the bread.

this is bread a. normal. - the way it tore... / - it wasn't good. right? it didn't seem like bread. this is bread b. this is even worse. that one snapped. which bread looks fresher?

b is strange. next, we applied pressure to the bread to see the stability. which one is expired among these two breads? i don't know. a or b? we finished comparing the 5 foods. so which are the expired products? (this is hard)

i can't tell. honestly, i eat expired products. me too. it's different for every household. some people throw them right out and some people just eat them. it's not that you can't eat them just because they're expired. it depends on how it was stored.

we couldn't tell on screen. - so let's taste them. / - yes. - taste them? / - eat them? let's use our sense of smell and taste. so one of these are expired. just a bit. so you can still eat them. sure. they haven't gone bad. we should do that.

should we start with the milk first? - the smell... / - you have b. wait... both... - give me that. / - here. let me smell. - use a mother's sense. / - they're the same. (serious) she doesn't know. i choose b.

so i have to eat what's leftover? the smell... that one smelled a bit more savory. i think that one is a bit expired. it does smell a bit savory. trade. no, no. i think it's a. the savory smell means it's still good. this smells a bit sour.

if the milk smells sour, there's a problem. - right. / - so let's trade. (i'm nervous) if you keep milk a long time it turns yogurt-like. are you sure? smell it. this is the one. this... this one doesn't smell savory. how is it?

- nice. / - it's okay? drink a lot. wait... - it's weird? / - this tastes good. it's nice and savory. the aftertaste isn't dry. i drank a. i'm sure it's fresh milk that isn't expired. i drank b.

i think it's fresh milk that isn't expired. really? excuse me... my taste is more accurate. one of them is expired. (let me try) i think this is expired. it is? - it's fresh? / - it's good.

(i'll drink a lot too) it's even tasty. - but... / - very savory. it's not! it's really savory. it's good! the answer is on the bottom of the plate. - let's reveal our plates. / - okay. (tear the paper off)

(yikes) wow! (yeah) see? - this one... / - goodness... - it was really savory. / - what happened? it's 9 days past the expiration date. how did it taste? i couldn't tell at all.

the bread... try tearing it and tasting it. tear it. i think a... you can tell if you look carefully. some parts look a bit yellowish and stiff. the edges. it's a bit firm. this isn't fresh bread. it's not moist.

what about that one? this one is soft. it has that softness of bread. i think you're right. it is. (this is how it should taste!) so you choose b? it's b. what if there's a twist?

- i'm right? / - you're right. 6 days expired. - jimin, the tofu. / - yes... the tofu... this should be the easiest one. i'll smell it first. smell it. it smells savory and i can really smell the beans. really? you can smell beans too?

that's amazing. these beans... where are the beans from? - thailand? / - thailand? the other one... this one is definitely different. - it's different? / - really? don't spill them. the bean smell is stronger in this one.

a stronger bean smell and it has a very healthy smell. jiyoon, you try smelling them. i don't think she'll know. there was a big visual difference in the bread. if she's smelling it that many times it means she doesn't know. b smells a lot stronger. b smells stronger?

it's firmer. if this is tofu for stew... the one that's more dense. it's not easy to eat without soy sauce. - it's good. / - it is? ta-da. (tofu b is still good) you got it right. - the bean smell was stronger... / - yes.

for the one that's not expired. tofu a is still edible. this is found in every fridge. the healthy eggs. i'll crack egg b first. goodness. - pretty. / - it looks fine. - the way it spread... / - the yolk is firm... the white spreads out.

i'll crack a next. usually we check by the shape of the yolk. this one... that one is a bit dim. - really? / - the yolk and white... the white seems mushy. we'll leave it to taeho to choose. eat it. with eggs...

stop messing around and eat one. hurry and decide. it shouldn't be watery. it's not good if it spreads out when you fry it. - right. / - i choose a. - a? / - eat it raw? eat it if you like raw eggs. should i eat it? (slurp)

taeho has eaten many eggs on his comedy shows so he should be able to tell from eating it. he could've eaten expired eggs on that show. sorry, but can i try this one too? no. savory. very savory. really.

how about trying a hard-boiled egg a? (jongkook checks as he loves eggs!) this one smells strong. the color is a bit yellowish. this one is a bit whiter. just... - good? / - what i'm used to eating... my throat is parched... it's hard to tell with eggs.

egg a. taeho, you ate two. you're saying a is still good. 2, 3. (8 days expired!) (sigh...) 8 days... you said when you ate the hard-boiled egg it tasted like what you usually eat.

it didn't taste spoiled, weird or sour at all. i couldn't tell. hyeonmin... you have a tough one. yogurt... it could give you a bad stomachache. when i tip a, it doesn't flow. and when i scoop it... is that pudding? hold on...

- this is... / - so severe. it could just be how that product is. try scooping b. - with a different spoon. / - i'm curious how b is. so that's how this stuff is. they're similar. it's just like that. there's a lot of b. i think it's b. you think it's b.

i bet that's good. you could be a yogurt model. eat it all and say it's good like in a commercial. face forward. it makes you smart... yogurt! just like a commercial! what if b is really expired?

hyeonmin, the one you enjoyed... b. will it be expired or not? (yogurt b is fresh) - what a relief. / - i'm safe. so since jungmin, jimin, hyeonmin and i got them right, we get extinguisher guns. many people worry if they'll get an upset stomach from eating expired food.

the expiration date tells the consumer the last day the product can be sold. the use by date tells you the last day you can eat the product without causing harm to yourself if the product is left unopened. $60 million worth of expired food is discarded a year. that's enough to feed 32.52 million malnourished children. so out of these 5 foods

which has the longest use by date? yogurt has an expiration date of 7 days but you can eat it up to 10 days past the expiration date. bread has an expiration date of 3 to 5 days but the use by date is 20 days. eggs have an expiration date of 14 days but the use by date is 25 days. milk has an expiration date of 14 days

but as long as it's stored well you can drink it 45 days past the expiration date. so which food has the longest use by date? tofu. unlike the 14 day expiration date if it is kept unopened in the fridge, the use by date is 90 days. according to the ministry of food and drug safety, you can eat cheese 70 days past the expiration date,

8 months for instant noodles... over 1 year for frozen dumplings... over 2 years for chili paste... over 5 years for cooking oil. we looked for harmful germs to see if it's really okay to eat expired foods. these foods were 7 days past their expiration date. yogurt, milk, tofu, bread and eggs. they were kept unopened in a fridge.

then we had them checked for germs. after the germs were allowed to cultivate for 2 days, the foods were checked. (what will the results be?) the 9 days expired milk had no harmful germs. the 9 days expired yogurt the 8 days expired bread the 7 days expired tofu

lastly, the 9 days expired eggs the expired milk, yogurt, eggs, bread and tofu did not have a single harmful germ. the use by date is a lot longer than the expiration date so even if a food is past the expiration date written there's no need to throw it out. as long as you stored it to stay fresh you can safely eat it.

even though they're past their expiration date, these foods can be consumed so long as they're well kept. but if you still feel uneasy... is there a way you can tell if the food has gone bad? first, with milk... pour a drop of milk in clear water. fresh milk will not spread

and sink to the bottom. bad milk will spread in the water and make the water unclear. the older the yogurt is, the lactobacillus will vitalize so it'll give a sour taste that's stronger than rotten milk. rotten yogurt will smell different as soon as it's opened.

if it smells more foul than sour you should never eat it. for tofu, if the surface is slippery and sticky there's a very good chance it's rotten. and if the water in the pack is unclear it means the tofu has gone bad. if you can't eat all the tofu, pour the water out and use spring water. this is safety first news.

this is for those that work at construction sites. last year there were two deaths a day from not following safety procedures. to prevent accidents at a construction site there needs to be a safety facility and workers should always wear safety gear. hold on. so many people are coming into my heart. for your safety,

i'll install some safety equipment. (smile) safety equipment?
