splicing a cable too many times cancompromise the strength of the cable and can cause a wavy cable. cable should not be spliced closer thanten feet. start by cutting the end of the cable toensure a clean edge to work with. use loctite primer on the splice first,and then apply loctite.
where can you rent a plumbing snake, insert the splice into the end of thecable. use vice grips on the cable to hold the splice in place. slowly turn the splice into the cableend. cut the other end of the cable and usea punch to open the end of the cable up.
bring the two ends of cable together.
using vice grips, slowly twist the two endsof the cable together on the splice. stop twisting cable together when thetwo ends meet and are smooth. be careful to not overlap the cablesby over-tightening. this makes the cable unsafe for theretriever and for the hands of the operator.
